Our Philosophy

We formed our business around the concept that work should be a place where all individuals can be who they are, express their own unique voice, feel part of a productive culture, feel valued and make a positive contribution.

In our experience, command-and-control does not work. It stifles creativity, breeds mistrust, disempowers and disengages an organization’s most valuable asset: human beings. Employees invest their time, talent and energy into building products, delivering services and making organizations valuable. For that commitment, they deserve a workplace that fosters trust and respect, and believes everyone deserves dignity.

When workplace behavior aligns with the mission, vision and values of your organization, now you have the formula for success that breeds happy employees. And, happy employees are productive, loyal employees who will help you achieve your goals.

Our Beginnings

SMART Conversations® evolved out of the proven work and thought leadership of Stephen Covey, Daniel Goleman, Brene Brown, William Isaacs, Chris Argyris, David Bohm and other organizational development experts. We became stewards of this transformational work in 2007 and changed the firm’s name from di.a.logic® to SMART Conversations® (SC) to make it more accessible and easier to remember. (Who doesn’t want to have a SMART Conversation?)

Since we were entrusted with SC, we have simplified the work, modernized the infographics, created an e-elearning product and designed/developed more than a dozen new communications courses built on the SC foundation. We’ve also added our own original thoughts, including observations and learnings, from more than 15 years of training, coaching and consulting experience. Ultimately, as much as communication channels change, at its core, great communication and great relationships are built on a foundation of trust and respect. Let us show you how to create a culture that supports these virtues.

Our commitment moving forward

As work challenges shift, and we grow and develop new courses, we want you to know that we are committed to showcasing new voices and perspectives. We have already had a third-party review SC through a racial lens and made necessary changes. We also promise to grow as an inclusive organization.

We invite you to join us on this exciting journey.

Our Mission

We create inclusive cultures based on dignity and respect for all.

Our Vision

To inspire leaders to create human-centered cultures where everyone thrives.

Our Values

  • Authenticity. We commit to honesty and to being ‘real’ with all of our clients, vendors and everyone we come in contact with.
  • Respect. We value all perspectives, believe in inclusivity and give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
  • Trust. We believe trust is at the center of all of our relationships.
  • Accountability.  We take responsibility for our actions and keep our promises.
  • Sustainability.  We believe in supporting our communities and sustaining our environment.

We strive to honor our values and model them in all of our interactions with others including clients, employees, strategic partners, and anyone we encounter in our personal and professional lives.
